The Story
Exhibition "Pierre Charpin - Parole Parole Parole" Opening / Book Launch
February 13, 2025
6 PM - 8 PM
Conceived in the form of a journal, this book brings together texts written by Pierre Charpin over the past two decades. Mostly written after the completion of projects, they aim to convey their sensory dimension as well as the uncertainties that accompany any creative endeavor. By revisiting various projects designed for different commissioners, reflecting on his drawing practice, the role of his studio, and the contribution of his collaborators, Pierre Charpin offers a unique perspective on the approach of a designer at the turn of the 21st century — but also on the doubts and hesitations that accompany the realization of his work. Portraying himself as an amateur of the language of forms, Pierre Charpin develops throughout these texts an intimate relationship with the language of signs.
Born in 1962, Pierre Charpin is a French designer, visual artist, and scenographer. Working primarily in the field of furniture and object design, he regularly collaborates on commissions for a variety of clients such as Alessi, Arita, the crystal manufacturer Saint-Louis, and the publisher Hay. His limited-edition pieces are produced and distributed by Galerie kreo. Alongside this work, he maintains a regular drawing practice, which has been the subject of several solo exhibitions.
