A Guide on Gardening is a visual research project which delves into the art of topiary in Mexico City. By means of searching for patterns and the repetition of a variety of recognizable characters, forms, dimensions, and species, the project reflects on the ever-changing nature of shrubs and their impact on the urban landscape. Furthermore, this extensive compendium of images analyzes the phenomenon of topiary as an element which interconnects different social classes, thus becoming a tool for cultural expression.
